Annual ryegrass is used for turf, erosion control and other applications requiring quick, economical ground cover. Annual ryegrass has an aggressive root system, which establishes quickly in poor and compacted soils. It is often used as a temporary nurse grass while permanent grass is being established. For longer-term use, re-seeding needs to be done annually. It can be found at elevations up to 9500 ft.
