Description
High Efficiency Bonded Fibre Matrix is applied hydraulically as mulch. It forms a protective matrix that shields the soil surface from water and wind erosion. It’s made of natural fibers and strong binding agents. This product is successful on steep slopes, in poor soil, and where seeds need some extra help germinating.
Composition & Technical Specifications
HydroStraw is a precise mixture of treated wheat straw, refined pulp and water holding emulgents.
- 60% Heat & Mechanically Treated Wheat Straw: The straw fibers are heated and compressed into strong, flexible pellets.
- 30% Refined Pulp Fibers: Superfine fibers fill voids in the matrix and help the paper hold together for the long haul.
- 10% of Wetting Agents: Special colloidal binders make the fibers stick to each other and the soil.
Application Rates
- Hose Application: 60 lb per 100 gal of water
- Tower Application: 75 lb per 100 gal of water
Various slope angles require different mulch rates to provide consistent protection regardless of the inclination angle.
Superior Erosion Control
The product creates a tight layer over the straw to help prevent wind erosion and washout. It is adhesive on rough ground (even on terrains as steep as 1:1), keeping soil in place during heavy rain. The long natural fibers weave together into a net that resists movement. All that fiber network and the binders mean soil stays put and erosion stops before it starts.
Enhanced Vegetation Establishment
HydroStraw establishes a protective zone for seeds and saplings. Trapping moisture close to the soil surface facilitates more rapid sprouting of seeds. The fiber layer shields sensitive sprouts from desiccation and may shelter them from being buried by soil washed downhill by rain. Plant roots can stretch into the open fibers and may be able to help make plants stronger and more able to survive in challenging conditions.
Cost-Effective Application
This mulch is less expensive to apply than most blankets and fibers. Because it sprays consistently, crews use less time staging it. Fewer workers and less machine time translate to reduced labor expenses. HydroStraw often saves overall project money, particularly on steep, challenging slopes when blankets are difficult to place.
Efficient Water Usage
HydroStraw applies water when and where it's needed during installation and beyond. Its “Load More, Spray More – Use Less Water” design allows applicators to provide more mulch load per gallon. This cuts the overall water demand per acre. Upon application, the fiber matrix retains rainwater where seeds and plants need it most, reducing water consumption.
Environmentally Friendly
HydroStraw HE contains planet-friendly ingredients. All fibers are from rapidly renewable sources, such as wheat straw and pulp. They decompose naturally and completely, leaving nothing harmful on the ground. A biodegradable green dye is used to help users see coverage without damaging nearby wildlife or plants.
Ideal Applications
HydroStraw fits many erosion control and revegetation projects:
- Steep Slopes: It will work on hillsides as steep as 1:1.
- Construction Sites: It suppresses fresh soil to keep dirt and sediment from streams and roads.
- Roadside Embankments: It allows grass to establish on roadsides, so there is less need for maintenance.
- Land Reclamation assists new plants in taking root in areas that were once the sites of mining, quarrying, and logging activities.
- Agricultural Fields: It facilitates the seeding of cover crops and the protection of new plantings.
And every application benefits from the ease of use of the spray-on convenience, with effective erosion control.
Why Choose HydroStraw HE Bonded Fiber Matrix?
HydroStraw is the most cost effective, versatile and environmentally friendly hydroseeding mulch on the market today.
- It keeps the soil in place during heavy rain and wind.
- It aids seeds in sprouting rapidly and developing strong roots.
- It saves on labor, material, and watering costs over blankets and other mulches.
- It relies on natural, renewable fibers and requires no toxic waste.
By selecting HydroStraw, project managers and contractors gain a proven solution that balances soil protection, plant growth, and budget needs.
