Description

The Febco 765 Pressure Vacuum Breaker (PVB) prevents drinking water from contamination due to back-siphonage. It incorporates both a spring loaded check valve and an air-open port in a small compact unit. It is constructed with a lead-alloy C84400 bronze body and a freeze-resistant plastic bonnet. It responds rapidly to a drop in pressure for safe, dependable performance in irrigation, plumbing, and industrial applications.

Key Features

The 765 PVB by Febco is a decent model with basic but useful functions. These designs enable easy installation and efficient maintenance along with excellent longevity.

  • Integrated Valve & Air Port: This one-piece assembly contains the check valve (which prevents backward flow) and the air opening port (which creates siphon-breaking air).
  • Lightweight Poppet Seal: The plastic poppet seats to seal the air port under low-flow conditions, allowing the system to remain pressurized until air loss of 1 psi opens the air port to avoid inrushing contaminants.
  • Freeze-Resistant Bonnet: An engineered plastic bonnet protects internal components from freezing, extending the valve’s life in cold climates.
  • In-Line Serviceability: All internal components are accessible from the top for in-line service. The valve does not need to be taken out of the line for routine maintenance.
  • Low Head Loss: Streamlined flow path reduces pressure drop for more efficient system performance.

Installation & Maintenance

Correct installation and maintenance are key for reliable backflow prevention. The Febco 765 is easy to install with simple code-compliant body mounting and simple service.

  • Install a minimum of 12" above the highest downstream outlet to prevent backpressure problems.
  • Flush pipes before installation to remove any debris that could damage seals or prevent the valve from operating.
  • Mount the valve in such a manner that there is a clearance above the valve for test and service without disassembly.
  • In freeze susceptible regions, optional union-end ball valves or freeze-sensor bonnet (model 765-FZ) can be attached to produce an alarm if temperatures are near to freezing.
  • To service, unscrew the plastic bonnet. All seals, springs and poppets are accessible without valve body removal.

Benefits

The Febco 765 PVB provides distinct advantages in protecting water quality, system integrity, and facility investment:

  1. Prevents both back-siphonage and backpressure in one, easy-to-install application.
  2. The bronze body has excellent corrosion resistance, and the plastic bonnet avoids freezing breakage.
  3. Low head loss saves pumping costs; simple maintenance saves labor costs.
  4. Meets the irrigation and plumbing backflow prevention federal and local standards.
  5. Optional union ends, ball valves and freeze sensors allow customization of the protection for each application.

Ideal Applications

The Febco 765 PVB excels in a variety of settings where potable water must be shielded from contaminants:

  • Irrigation & Landscape Systems: Prevents fertilizers, pesticides, and soil-water run-off from contaminating the public water system.
  • Swimming Pools & Fountains: Prevents pool water or chemical solutions from being drawn in through water or chemical pressure, back into the domestic water lines.
  • Industrial & Laboratory Lines: Prevents from fluid or chemical backflow in production and testing fields.
  • General Plumbing: Features a durable vacuum breaker for hose bibs, faucets and other fixtures prone to spurts and leaks.

Summary

The Febco Model 765 PVB is a good choice if people want a dependable and adaptable valve to protect the water system. The synthetic design is leak-proof and its construction features can be easily serviced through the advanced design, quality elements and construction. It is a very reliable and wise choice for residential, commercial and industrial applications. Whether protecting an irrigation system or process line, the Febco 765 provides assurance of performance and safety for the job.
