Stop Growing Males

Avoid the costly mistake of waiting until flowering to identify plant sex. Trusted by cannabis growers worldwide since 2017, Farmer Freeman's EZ-XY Plant DNA Sex Tests allow you to determine whether a plant is female (XX) or male (XY) as early as seven days from sprout using our state-of-the-art DNA lab.

Costs of Growing Male Plants

  • Space: Male plants occupy valuable space that could be used for flower-producing female plants.
  • Plant Counts: In many regions, growers are limited by a specific plant count. Male plants take up spots that could be used for females, reducing your overall harvest.
  • Supplies: Male plants use resources like soil, water, and nutrients until identified and culled. Early detection saves these resources.
  • Crop Health: Unexpected male plants can pollinate your growth, leading to seeded buds, which result in harsher smoke and more sorting. This can also increase allergy risks.

Early Detection is Key

By testing your plants' DNA early, you can:

  • Maximize your garden's potential yields
  • Cull male plants faster than ever
  • Save on resources and labor.

How to Use a DNA Plant Sex Test

  1. Plant Your Seed: Grow your plant as usual until it has two sets of leaves.
  2. Collect Sample: Use the collection kit to select your plant, place the coded plant stake, and snip a small portion from a healthy leaf. Seal the sample in your envelope.
  3. Sterilize Equipment: Sterilize your equipment before collecting samples and between different plants. Ensure samples are free of dirt and chemicals. This includes any foliar sprays, IPM, foggers, etc - please contact the lab prior to submission if your plant was spayed.
  4. Submit Sample: Mail your sample to the lab for analysis.

Technical Details

  • Accurate Testing: Uses PCR-based test targeting the Y-chromosome for maximum accuracy in detecting variants.
  • Note: DNA testing identifies genetic males with a Y chromosome but cannot detect hermaphroditic traits expressed by genetic females (XX).

Ensure optimal growth and yield using Farmer Freeman's EZ-XY Plant DNA Sex Tests for early and accurate plant sex identification.
