Commonly referred to as "basket of gold", it puts out clusters of small yellow flowers on upright stalks from April to May. Its leaves are an attractive blue-gray color. It is a beautiful floral display; however, note that the flowers have an unpleasant odor.
Select sunny location (tolerates light shade) and 4-6 weeks before last frost. Cultivate soil and firm seed, keeping it moist. Store seed in a cool, dry place. Heat and moisture can severely reduce germination.
