This unusual purple podded bean is easy to grow and produces an abundant yield of tender and delicious stringless bean. Pods turn dark green when cooked. Excellent fresh or frozen. Select a sunny location and plant in late spring after last frost. Soil should be warm, fertilized with a vegetable food, and cultivated. Make successive plantings of bush beans every 2 weeks until 8 weeks before fall frost. Sow pole beans only once. Firm soil over seed. Support pole beans with stout poles, trellis, string, or wire. Water by soaking soil, to reduce danger of disease. Pick regularly when pods are 5-6 in./13-15 cm., before sides bulge.
