This annual plant is has feathery, clasping, tansy-like leaves covered with short, stiff hairs. The lavender-blue, bell-shaped flowers occur in fiddlehead clusters near the tops of the stems. Long stamens and styles extend well beyond the flowers
Sow seeds in early Spring when there is still a chance of frost, these requires scarification prior to planting, nick the seeds with a knife or rub them with sandpaper of file. Lacy Phacelia thrives in full sun and prefers poor, rocky, sandy, well-drained soil. Store seed in a cool, dry place. Heat and moisture can severely reduce germination.
