The Burgundy Okra has beautiful red pods that turn green when cooked. They are torpedo shaped and grow to 5 inches long. They have a unique flavor somewhere between asparagus and eggplant.
Select sunny location and sow seeds after last frost and the ground warms. For earlier crop, start indoors. Cultivate soil and enrich with vegetable food. Firm soil over seed. Keep soil moist, clean, and feed every 4 weeks. Pick pods when tender and young (1-3 in./3-8 cm.). Remove overripe pods to maintain plants vigor.
