Our Aphidius colemani vials and bottles are designed for efficient aphid control in crops. Release the parasitic wasps weekly at low rates as aphids start to appear in your crop. Should aphid colonies become established, consider localized hotspot treatments or intervention at the economic threshold.

In cases where aphids are suspected of transmitting viruses or when populations are high, it's advisable to use a compatible chemical control before releasing Aphidius colemani. Remember not to spray between the release of adults and mummy formation for optimal effectiveness.

Description

Instructions for Vials & Bottles:

For effective use, release Aphidius colemani at low rates weekly as aphids begin to appear in the crop. If aphid colonies become established, consider localized hotspot treatments or intervene when the economic threshold is reached. If aphids are suspected of transmitting viruses or if populations are high, use a compatible chemical control before releasing Aphidius colemani. Do not spray between the release of adults and mummy formation.

To release the parasites:

  • Open the vial among plants in the greenhouse.
  • Hold the vial horizontally at a 45° angle and carefully remove the lid.
  • Gently tap the opened vial to release adult parasites evenly while walking through the crop.
  • Recap the vial and store it at greenhouse temperature until more adults have hatched.
  • Repeat the distribution of adults daily for 2-4 days.
  • Place the open vial containing the remaining mummies upright in the crop for 3-4 days.

For best results, make introductions early in the day or in late afternoon/early evening.

Storage and Transport:

  • Keep vials out of direct sunlight.
  • Transport and store at 43-50°F.
  • Use within 18 hours of receipt.
