Umbrella Executed by Dan The Tiki Man, Inc., the 'Umbrella' landscaping effort illustrates our dedication to providing outdoor spaces that function as a perfect getaway from everyday life. Located in the heart of the Florida Keys, the included a large property in need of revitalization, incorporating native plants and accessibly-designed areas into the property to enrich the homeowner’s experience. The key feature of the was a beautiful pergola that was adorned with colorful bougainvillea, to create a sheltering roof that creates shade for the area and provides a pop of color. Around the economical pergola, we selecively included drought-resistant plants, in the forms of palm and ornamental grasses, to maximize sustainability in the Florida climate. One of the challenges, because of a sandy soil site, was the difficulty sodium and sandy soils can create for plant roots and drainage. The team was able to amend the soil with organic matter, while also utilizing a smartly designed irrigation system, so that plants will be able to thrive and use much less water. Additional elements included made-to-order stone walking paths built from native Coral Stone, and access points that lead to a newly re-designed outdoor kitchen, as well as a fire pit area that opens to entertaining family and friends. The end result of the 'Umbrella' was tailor-made to exceed the client’s expectations; it turned the outdoor living space into an utterly lush paradise that complemented the overall natural, environmental aesthetics of the surrounding area. Dan the Tiki Man, Inc., with its craftsmanship and attention to , was proud to acheive an incredible landscape that improved the value of the home, while also functioning as a vibrant outdoor living space for many, many years to come.
