About This Project

The Seattle Historic Kitchen project transformed a previously closed-off and uninspired space into a bright, functional, and inviting kitchen that honors the home’s historic character. The original layout featured cabinets that obscured charming period windows and a peninsula that disrupted the flow to adjacent areas. By removing the cumbersome cabinetry and restoring the original windows, the design team successfully opened up the kitchen, allowing an abundance of natural light to flood the area, enhancing its warmth and charm. To compensate for the loss of traditional cabinetry while maintaining functionality, custom glass-fronted cabinets were extended down to the countertops, creating a hutch configuration that seamlessly blends modern convenience with classic aesthetics. This thoughtful design choice not only provides ample storage but also showcases beautiful dishware and decorative items, adding a personal touch to the kitchen. The use of high-quality materials throughout the project reflects both durability and sophistication, ensuring that the kitchen will not only serve its practical purpose but will also be a visual delight. State-of-the-art appliances were integrated into the design without compromising the kitchen’s historic feel.
