Mirrorm Lake Designs embrace of a New Orleans Courtyard inside your own backyard This New Orleans Couryard Inspired Backyardby Mirror Lake Designs turns a detractive outdoor space into a warm escape that channels the courtyards of the French Quarter in New Orleans right in the heart of Montgomery. An example of our balancing act between quality design and creativitywe love how the greens and the hardscapes come together so effortlessly. This backyard oasis features a diversity of native plants hibiscus, gardenias, ferns to add natural texture and color that lasts throughout the seasons. With antique bricks lay down like an old exposed brick New Orleans walking street, the center of the courtyard is a handmade reclaimed brick patio. An inviting space bordered by a light steel trellis covered with climbing jasmine can provide verticality and fragrance. Through this we faced many challenges, one of them was the need to solve the drainage problem of the backyard. We carefully designed a series of French drains to manage water while still preserving the look of the landscape. We also included ambient lighting in the design, where LEDs are placed in zones to accentuate essential design elements and create a warm atmosphere during the evenings when gatherings can be made indoors. The end product was stunning, a courtyard that the client is thrilled with, and one they can now use as a relaxed outdoor space to entertain family and friends. This New Orleans-inspired backyard is now a beautifully integrated extension of the home featuring lush gardens, elegant hardscaping, and deliberate design.
