Before and After By: Mirror Lake Designs At Mirror Lake Designs, we have been creating stunning environments to tastefully showcase the unique natural beauty of your property and truly bring outdoor spaces and one-of-a-kind works of art to life. Featured Image of Our Latest Work Before and After Portfolio of Our Landscape Excellence in Houston and Aldine, Conroe, Cypress, The Woodlands and Beyond Our initial steps involved a detailed consultation where we learnt what the client desired from their yard. The original site was a barely manageable blank canvas crippled by straggly shrubs and forgettable lawn. Our challenge was to create an oasis in the backyard that would be inviting, but to also solve age-old drainage problems on the property. First, we had to painstakingly scrape away invaders and sod, preparing the soil for new life. We used Bluebonnets and Black-eyed Susans alongside many other native Texas plants, which beautified our design and promoted biodiversity in our area. We featured sustainable materials such as permeable pavers for the walkways and natural stone for a stunning fire pit area so that our design could be beautiful and sustainable. We then designed grading with a rain garden to handle the drainage challenges and it also created a beautiful landscape feature. With layers of flowering perennials and ornamental grasses, textures and colors were varied to continually engage the eye during the seasons. The result was really mind blowing. What was a yard that had been left to act as nature's jungle gym became a greenhouse with a lush, tropical feel that was ideal both for entertaining and relaxation. Our client was over the moon with the result saying that the space was better than they could have hoped for and became an extension of their home.
