Hardscape and Pool Design by Southern Elegance Design and Landscape Southern Elegance Design and Landscape is delighted to present our recently completed 'Hardscape and Pool Design,' an outdoor living space that combines function and beauty. We service Auburn, Berkeley Lake, Buford and Cumming areas, and took on this challenging new with a mission to create a peaceful sanctuary that would be a perfect place for family gatherings and entertaining in summer. The includes a custom-designed swimming pool with a magnificent waterfall feature that flows over a natural stone slab for relaxing sounds. We selected quality travertine pavers for their durability and elegance to complete the look of the pool and the pool deck area; the travertine seamlessly blended with the terraced landscaping. The pool deck area is generously sized with appropriate seating arrangements for lounging and enjoyment. A significant obstacle we had to contend with was the slope of the property, which required attention to planning in engineering safe and accessible areas. Our knowledgeable team did an exceptional job resolving the issues associated with the slope, while it enhanced the vision by incorporating some retaining walls made from natural stone; building with natural stone will provide durability and beauty for years to come. The new tiered landscape improves the beauty of the property, while enhancing proper drainage. To finish off the design we dressed up the pool area with lush greenery and brightened the space with colorful plantings. Realizing the importance of the layered softscape was key to an adequate area for privacy, maintaining some native plants adds to a low maintenance solution. It was great to return and see the newly-placed native plants established in and around the pool area, which killed two birds with one stone; native plants provide meaning and cheerful color in a transitional space, adding ambiance. The end result was astounding, and our clients couldn't have been more excited. The outdoor living space has become the centerpiece of fun and relaxation for family.
