Aldea Remodel by Serquis + Associates Landscape Architecture The 'Aldea Remodel' illustrates the impact of mindful landscaping that is expertise from Serquis + Associates Landscape Architecture. It is located and immerse in the beautiful context of Santa Fe, which also was the goal of the - to bring the enhanced experience of outdoor living into a unique setting. Principals of the remodel included using a plant palette comprised of native species, to reduce water usage yet keep a vibrant display year-round, attracting and providing habitat for the birds and insects native to the region. The primary materials utilized consisted of locally sourced flagstone and adobe bricks, creating a sense of connection to existing architecture in the community of Eldorado at Santa Fe and Tesuque Pueblo. Pathways were fluidly arranged, creating an inviting experience within lush garden settings, with topographical changes allowing some spaces to thicken while in vertical form highlighting the existing topography. One major challenge of the included the rocky and steep terrain, requiring creativity and craft to overcome. The team was able to creatively use a combination of excavation and incorporated all installations for sustainability. To aide that, a unique irrigation system was proposed that would save water while watering in an effective manner to the landscape. The overall culminated with a beautiful outdoor space that not only enhances the aesthetic of the home, but will also be an immersive retreat for those who live there. Most importantly, the outdoor living space, including the fire pit as well as shaded seating areas created an idealage setting for the homeowners to gather with family for evenings under the starry sky. Ultimately, the Aldea remodel is a testament to the commitment of exceptional quality and design solutions that Serquis + Associates peer into enriching and crafting landscapes from our communities as exemplified at the Aldea remodel. It met or exceeded expectation of the clients and solidified Serquis + Associates reputation for excellency in landscape architecture and exceptional client services.
