Custom Vegetable Garden by Joseph Bulfamante and Son Landscape Design/Build This custom vegetable garden, located in beautiful Westchester County New York, illustrates the craftsmanship and attention to detail that Joseph Bulfamante and Son Landscape Design/Build is known for. Our company has worked with clients from Cos Cob in the south to Yonkers in the north to convert useless backyard space into a gorgeous space full of fresh vegetables. Our team worked through the assessment of the space by looking at sun exposure, soil conditions, and client experience to create their garden. We employed raised beds- made from untreated cedar- that are durable yet allow for drainage. The raised beds for located in a variety of ways to optimize sun exposure and help us create an irrigation system. For irrigation, we specifically used a drip-line irrigation system to conserve water, and have healthy vegetables. The biggest challenge we faced was dealing with lots of uneven ground, which we leveled out and bordered with pathways made from natural stone. The pathways made access to the garden easier and also made it beautiful. After discussing with the clients, we decided to utilize organic soil amendments in the raised beds to build a base full of nutrients for a wide variety of vegetables, including heirloom tomatoes, peppers, and greens. In the end our client was thrilled with the garden, it turned out to be lush and productive. Fresh vegetables that burst with color and flavor provided an enjoyable backdrop to family gatherings and a space for children to learn. The client is now enjoying the hard work of their garden by harvesting fresh vegetables throughout the summer.
