PROJECfilter: PLANTING DESIGN + PLANT COMBINATIONS by S Argent'sler SHOW OPTIONS GARDENS From Sargent's Gardens: Planting design and plant combinations, a landscaping tour that shows how we transformed outdoor spaces in Elgin, Eyota, Hammond, Millville, Oronoco, Rochester, Zumbro Falls, Byron, Stewartville, St. Charles, and Olmsted County. The whole was designed and understood from site to enhance and compliment the natural aesthetics and create an easy sustainable maintenance process. After an intensive consultation to assess the vision as well as soil type, sunlight exposure, and local climate conditions, our skilled team started with full detail. We chose a wide variety of native plants complemented with bold perennials that bloom in succession for year-round color and foliage interest, both complementary and contrasting. The show-stopping pair of purple coneflowers and rudbeckia mingling with ornamental grasses swaying in the breeze are some of the must-have plant combinations seen everywhere. A significant struggle we encountered was working with differences in soil drainage between the properties. Strategically grade and drain so each plant lives in its own zone, our team brought in the solution. We also added organic mulch to retain moisture and prevent weeds, thus enhancing the environment. It looks absolutely stunning in the end. Every garden is an oasis of life, drawing in pollinators and offering a wonderfully inviting place for the homeowner to escape.
