This involved replacing an old, failing retaining wall that was not only functionally failing, but also visually displeasing to the property. We achieved this utilizing natural stone and solid concrete block. Both materials were selected to ensure that the constructed wall would last over time and withstand the environments within the region. We created a design of the wall to add to the existing site-laden landscape, while strengthening the wall's basic functionality. We elected to do a tiered wall, which made drainage and massing more visually interesting and also helped improve drainage. Out biggest obstacle on the was managing the sloped terrain to ensure stability of the wall. It required a great deal of planning and engineering to excavate and prepare the underlying ground correctly. Having said that, from the beginning our crew was very efficient and skillful in excavating and preparing the site so we could directly reroute the existing drainage system that caused erosion damage over the years. The final product of the added to the visual component of the home, but the structural component is solid at the base aesthetics. Our client was very pleased with the completed and noted that the wall allowed for better use of their backyard space, while also raising property value. The represents Kuert Outdoor Living's standard for development and design, to assemble better family living outdoors, and elevate the natural aesthetic of the home in South Bend, Bristol, Elkhart and Mishawaka, Indiana.
