Landscaping with Grasses Sylvia’s Landscaping Company, LLC is excited to share our latest entitled “Landscaping with Grasses,” showcasing a beautiful landscape design completed in the lush suburbs of Chicago. This utilized the beauty and adaptability of ornamental grasses and provided the owner with a tranquil and accommodating outdoor space that integrates the surrounding landscape. This landscape design features a variety of native grasses, including Miscanthus, Panicum, and Calamagrostis, that are hardy and attractive through the seasons. Ornamental grasses also provide texture, motion, and habitat for local wildlife, which contributes to the ecological equilibrium of the site. Hardy ornamental grasses made their way into this landscape through coordinated planning and professional implementation to create a unique look that complemented the existing structures on the property. One significant consideration for this was the programmatic conditions of the site, including soil and drainage considerations prevalent in this region of the Chicago suburbs. We proposed a comprehensive drainage process and were able to install permeable paths and raised planters. These changes contributed to more thorough water management and suitable growing conditions for the ornamental grasses. The end product became a breathtaking view of undulating grasses, accented by boulders and native perennials, which spatially instills a transition of a layered landscape throughout the seasons. The client expressed happiness with their backyard redesign and was excited to use their newly designed yard as a place to relax.
