This , "In-laws - Backyard Landscaping," was completed in the beautiful city of Plymouth, where we showcase our ability to use beautiful, collectable materials for the entirety of our s, then completely re-imagine an outdoor space. At its origin, this client's vision was simply to create a space that would not only beautify their backyard but also be used to entertain for family and friends. Our client desired an extension of their existing outdoor space, looking to blend seamlessly with its surroundings, while using new elements to improve overall space. The client placed emphasis on using beautiful landscaping features, the big hitter of a space like this is a custom stone patio designed and fabricated from locally sourced bluestone. Not only does the bluestone look beautiful in the window of its natural landscape, it is a great workhorse for spaces that are designed for relaxation and entertainment. Surrounding the patio we used a rich variety of native findings of both perennial plants and flowers that would provide resiliency with the popular seasonal color. A firepit with natural stone seating surrounding completed the design, and created a focal point, or gathering area for family, friends, and moments to relax on a chilly night. One aspect of a such as this is the existing grade of the backyard, in this case, a dramatic slope. We designed and constructed a tiered garden which not only adds interest, but also improves drainage and ease of getting around the backyard. We incorporated decorative retaining walls made of reclaimed timber, which in addition to beauty, reinforce stability the tiers are designed for. The final was beautiful! And our clients were ecstatic the improvements made to there backyard that allowed for family and friends to enjoy their company safely. Multiple design elements, quality materials, and detailed implementation created a backyard that was aesthetically pleasing and friendly, a portion of a folks backyard that did not make the property colder, which we understood to improve the overall aesthetic of the backyard.
