The embrace the entire site of a sloped property facing the beautiful setting of Lake George. A completely flat garden or seating area lacking slope was not possible with the steep site. With slope comes the terrain's own challenges of drainage and soil stability, as the hill did not follow a pattern of typical water drainage, nor did it retain stable soil. We used natural stone in the form of retaining walls to solve retaining and drainage challenges, as well as provide an naturally attractive aesthetic that complemented the scenic view and changed views of the surrounding environment. In addition to the walls, tiered gardens were designed to directly blend in with the constructs and feature a selection of native plants that adapted to the environmental climate and required minimal maintenance in keeping with the rustic aesthetic. A series of perennials such as black-eyed susans and day lilies combined with ornamental grasses provided a varying palette of colors throughout the seasons. And located with the tiered gardens was a wooden deck designed to engage the beauty of relaxation and the view from the deck when in seating. The custom feature was made to suit a rustic look that engaged the beauty of the property at the same time. A winding pathway constructed from flagstone, procured locally, was also placed through the designed garden area and offered guests and visitors routes to the fire pit setting, which was designed to host guests. The use of soft landscape lights was also integrated along the pathway and meant to engage, even in small ways, any evening gatherings. When accomplished, Lake George View enhanced the use setting of the property to engage the entire landscape by nature and set the hooks into the view of the property.
