Jersey Home A truly unique landscape blending nature and design The Jersey Home in Midcoast Maine by Brian Higley - Landscape Architect Encompassing the beautiful communities of Bremen, Cushing, Friendship, and beyond, this includes a stunning selection of features designed to compliment the natural beauty of the property. The landscaping plan consists of this stunning outdoor living space detailed in custom stonework utilizing locally sourced granite that allows for a very durable and elegant space for socializing. Colorful perennial gardens framing the area were carefully designed to bloom from spring through fall, providing bursts of color and attracting local pollinators. The sloped terrain of the property turned out to be one of the major challenges. Brian created tiered gardens to break up the elevation changes in the slope with natural stone retaining walls to help maintain drainage and soil weight. In addition to maximizing the useable space, they also served to beautify the landscape. There were also a winding path made of salvaged wood which invited guests to explore through the garden. The extensive use of native plants promotes biodiversity and keeps irrigation to a minimum in keeping with sustainable landscaping all in keeping with the principles of the client. Brian Higley led an accomplished team of expert crafts people who transformed a once tired space into something beautiful, a vision that left the homeowners grinning ear to ear.
