About This Project

Remodeling and adding on to Piney Point Ranch, a classic pristine 1960s ranch home, presented a unique and challenging opportunity to blend contemporary design with the home’s original spirit. Our clients expressed the importance of infusing their distinct sense of style while ensuring that the essence of the original structure remained intact. To achieve this balance, our design solution incorporated a striking linear element, known as the steel "spine," which gracefully serves as a threshold between the old and the new. This spine not only enhances the visual flow of the home but also establishes a dynamic contemporary environment that resonates with the owners' desires. The addition thoughtfully respects the original architecture, with careful attention to detail that honors the home's legacy. The kidney-shaped pool, a cherished feature of the original property, retains its form, elegantly framed within the new spacious rectangular outline, creating a harmonious integration of old and new elements. Each space within the remodeled home has been crafted to include a “little surprise”—an interesting detail that invites curiosity and delight, reflecting the owners' personal taste and love for design. High-quality materials were selected to ensure longevity and aesthetic appeal, with finishes that complement both the existing structure and the modern additions. The collaboration with RD Architecture and interior designer Anne Breux brought forth a cohesive design narrative, resulting in a home that feels both inviting and sophisticated.
