Keogh Residence The landscaping at the Keogh Residence, completed by Verdant Enterprises, is one example of our passion for building amazing outdoor spaces that fit into their natural contexts. The site is located on the beautiful Isle of Hope, and we worked to create a beautiful landscape that complimented the architecture of the home while serving the lifestyle desires of the clients. The team began by conducting a thorough site analysis to understand the limitations of the site given the sandy soil type and salt spray. We selected various native and drought resistant plant species, including colorful azaleas, palmettos, and resilient coastal grasses, to make sure the landscape would work in that climate long after we walked away and would require low maintenance for the clients. We enhanced the outdoor space by including a meandering path made from tabby concrete from the area to a small fire pit area with stone seating. This inviting area provides a place where family could gather and enjoy evenings outside, stargazing. We also constructed a lush garden bed that surrounded the property with seasonal flowers that would add color throughout the multiple seasons of the year. One of the most rewarding parts of this was the implementation of a rain garden to capture and filter complex stormwater run off that would have been exterior, improving the ecological success and environmental reasonableness of the property, but also enhancing the aesthetic. Our commitment to sustainability allowed us to add beauty to the properties landscape environment, but also provide eco-health and support wildlife in the local community. By the end of the , the Keogh Residence was transformed from a basic yard to a stunning oasis that echoed the owners vision and lifestyle. The clients were overwhelmed with excitement of the finished product and appreciated the connection of each landscape to one another that worked in together to create both beauty and functionality.
