About This Project

The Old Library Upfit project transformed a historic structure built circa 1850, which had previously undergone a renovation and addition in 1984. The primary focus of this renovation was on the 1984 addition, where we aimed to create a more functional and inviting living space. A new bedroom was introduced, along with an enlarged kitchen that opens seamlessly into the existing living room and rear patio through an elegant arched opening. This design choice not only enhances the flow of the home but also allows for abundant natural light to permeate the space, creating an airy and spacious atmosphere. To further maximize utility, we enclosed a portion of the oversized screened porch, which now houses a dedicated laundry area, a conveniently located half bath, and a pantry. This addition also features a side entry leading directly to the existing yard and a new entry point onto a smaller screened porch, providing both functionality and outdoor accessibility. The design emphasizes rustic charm while meeting modern-day needs, blending the old-world character of the library with contemporary comforts. Craftsmanship was paramount throughout this project; every detail was carefully considered and executed to maintain the integrity of the original architecture while providing the homeowners with the updated amenities they desired. The use of high-quality materials, combined with thoughtful design choices, results in a harmonious balance between historical significance and modern living. GO Design GO Build, LLC was responsible for the comprehensive renovations, ensuring that each phase of the construction was completed to the highest standards.
