About This Project

The River Dunes Tiny House project in Oriental, NC, is a striking example of how thoughtful design can enhance a coastal craftsman home while providing additional space for family gatherings. This project, initiated in 2019, involved a meticulously crafted addition that expands the living area with a spacious 20' x 30' family room. This new centerpiece is complemented by inviting front and back porches, creating seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor living. A well-lit hallway connects this expanded area to the original structure, ensuring a harmonious flow throughout the home. In addition to the main house, a double guest cottage was designed to enhance the overall functionality and aesthetic appeal of the property. The front cottage features an open-concept layout that integrates a full-size kitchen, living, and dining areas, all bathed in natural light. This space includes a gracious bedroom and a well-appointed bathroom, making it a perfect retreat for guests. The back cottage showcases a stunning vaulted ceiling that elevates the style of the living space, while a cozy kitchenette and full bathroom provide all the necessary amenities in a compact footprint. Attention to detail is evident throughout the project, from the selection of traditional porcelain tile in the bathroom to the calming beige walls that create an inviting atmosphere.
