Backyard Revolutions Sheet Mulch Gardens WELCOME BACK TO THE BACKYARD REVOLUTIONS BLOG Back to Blog Home Sheet Mulch Gardens Backyard Revolutions recently completed a new landscaping called "Sheet Mulch Gardens" in the great towns of Denver, Golden, and Littleton. This groundbreaking approach to sustainable gardening converts conventional plots into thriving eco-parks. We built sheet mulch gardens; a layering of cardboard, wood chips, and compost. This technique helps to control weeds and nutrients to pass into the ground as things decompose creating a nutrient rich ecosystem. The design of the landscapes was integrated into the existing green of each property to enhance the beauty of the surrounding area and promote environmental biodiversity. Among the major challenges we encountered was having to deal with different types of soils in the sites. We meticulously evaluated and adapted our practices to ensure our clients had appropriate drainage and ground health, expertly navigating these challenges. Our commitment to eco-friendly practices drove the refinement of the wooden frame with quality raw materials, ideally, ones based out of the city. It turned out absolutely beautiful! The native plants thriving at each sheet mulch garden were a colorful and textural reminder of the pollinators we were supporting and how much more beautiful our spaces can be. The clients were thrilled, sharing that the aesthetic transformation combined with lower maintenance and enriched soil was so much more than they had hoped for. Backyard Revolutions is aesthetic landscapes that are also 100% working towards environmental sustainability.
