About This Project

City Backyard Garden | Falls Church, VA The City Backyard Garden in Falls Church, Virginia, was constructed by Native Plant Landscape Design Corp to embody our philosophy for sustainable gardening. Located in an active urban setting, this turned an underutilized backyard into a space that feels alive, integrated with nature. We chose a rich selection of native plants that both defined the scope and help maintain long term durability. We developed the perennials, ornamental grasses and pollinator flowers, in order to create a dynamic and inviting ecosystem to sustain butterflies and bees. Local bluestone was used to develop a winding stone path through the garden. There were several seating areas throughout the garden where the owners could enjoy the new garden as they relaxed in the peace and beauty it provided. The site posed a challenge, with limited sunlight due to neighboring structures. The team addressed this, by the site using shade-tolerant plants, trellises with climbing vines, all to utilize the space it more. The end result is a peaceful place, that is as functional as it is beautiful, an unique fire pit, surrounded by natural boulders to gather together. The clients were very pleased with the totality of the transformation, with in unison with both beauty and sustainability. The increased the owners outdoor living space and enhanced the environment and ecosystem in the area. Native Plant Landscape Design Corp always strives to pattern our work to create future mascots of possibility, to create spaces for people and nurture nature.
