From steep Portland hills, this changed a traditionally unattractive community space into a colorful landscape that adds vibrant beauty to an already lovely neighborhood. Drawing on the neighborhood's native ecology, the design blends native plantings, native ornamental trees, and colorful flower beds that entice pollinators to the community. We also used sustainable materials throughout the , including locally sourced stone for landscape elements like walls and pathways that blend into the surrounding neighborhoods seamlessly. One of the challenges of this location was an area of steep topography that required innovative drainage both to keep the planting from eroding and to ensure the longevity of the landscape. Wolfstone designed the landscape with tiers of ornamental boulders and native grass to hold the soil in place while also providing visual interest. The final product is a beautiful landscape that delivers functional use while still achieving aesthetic satisfaction. The community now enjoys a landscaped area where they can walk meandering paths for leisurely enjoyment, admire the colorful gardens in bloom, and sit quietly or gather to enjoy the landscape.
