Spyglass Ridge Natural Concepts Landscaping Contractors Announce the Completion of Spyglass Ridge An Elegant California Coastal Landscape Transformation This , set high in the beautiful hills on overlooking Santa Barbara, required a fine-tuned sensitivity to the native landscape, and the idea of a quiet place in which to step out into and to serene out into. The involved integrating tiered gardens into the hillside, using top-grade local stone for retaining walls. Not only does this add visual interest but also gives assurance against erosion, which is the most prevalent issue faced in hillside landscaping. We added some native drought-tolerant plants (succulents and lavender that thrive where we live and require little care) to suit the stone. Heavy rains brought water runoff in buckets, one of the major problems dealt. The system was designed and properly positioned in a way that the flow of water is directed outside of the garden beds and returns back home preserving the natural grade of the land. This state-of-the-art solution safeguards the vegetation, and adds to the sustainability of the design. Spyglass Ridge is ultimately a functional and beautiful final product. This client is now able to enjoy some stunning views from several places, with floating seating areas to relax and gaze. There are decomposed granite pathways throughout the gardens to help with accessibility, allow exploration, and to provide a better sense of engagement with nature. The client is thrilled with the result as they now have a beautiful retreat that engages harmoniously with the character of the land, thanks to our passion for quality workmanship and attention to detail.
