Link Road Reconstruction by Lynchburg Landscapes, Inc. Located in the center of Lynchburg, the Link Road Reconstruction showcases the quality craftsmanship and innovative design that Lynchburg Landscapes, Inc. is committed to. Serving the communities of Big Island, Coleman Falls, Forest, Madison Heights, Monroe, Sweet Briar, Timberlake, West Lynchburg, and Smith Mountain Lake, we embraced the chance to redesign this important roadway reforming it into a welcoming landscape. The focused on redesigning all of the green spaces along Link Road and used a large selection of native plant materials to achieve sustainability. We used durable materials, such as permeable pavers and natural stone retaining walls to achieve desired beauty and function. A selection of flowering shrubs and ornamental grasses was used to add seasonal color and texture to the area while creating an interesting visual quality. One of the challenges for us was the steep slope throughout portions of Link Road. Our landscape architects developed a scheme of multi-tiered plantings - enhancing the landscape and controlling erosion and drainage effectively. This innovative method accomplished many things, including solving the water runoff problem while adding to the overall visual quality and blending into the landscape forming and building the natural topography. The ongoing reaction to the Link Road Reconstruction post-has been positive from residents and stakeholders. The new and improved landscape offers a welcoming entrance to the neighborhoods it connects. The marked paths and seating areas encourage residents to utilize their new neighborhood entrance. The addition of lighting and signage reinforces this place identity, while establishing a safe area for pedestrians and cyclist.
