In the heart of Lynchburg, the Marvin Place embodies a remarkable balance of creativity and practicality, designed by Lynchburg Landscapes, Inc.. Our clients live in the robust and active communities of Big Island, Coleman Falls, Forest, Madison Heights, Monroe, Sweet Briar, Timberlake, West Lynchburg, and Smith Mountain Lake. Both mentally and physically, our team approached the morph of this outdoor residence into an impressive outdoor environment. We began with a thoroughly site analysis that allowed our team to study and appreciate the features and challenges of the site. The property had a steep slope down that presented a complexity that required and practiced creative solutions to create a safe, accessible, and appealing site. Our talented team utilized natural stone retaining walls to create stability while relating the walls back to the natural surrounding landscape. We selected a palette of native plants that adds to the aesthetics while reinforcing sustainability and biodiversity. Dynamic color perennials, ornamental grasses, and thoughtfully placed shrubs created multiple layers of color and texture throughout the seasons. The frail flagstone walk meanders through the garden and allows the visitor access to numerous points of interest in the garden like the sound of the water feature, wildlife viewing location, or an idea taking a break. Along with the creation of access paths, the included a large area in the lawn created with high quality, permeable pavers; optimizing drainage while at the same time preserving the beautiful landscape. The patios are both usable and flexible to entertain friends or escape to an evening under the stars. As with all s we take on, we have shown quality workmanship and care for everyone involved. Logistics were complicated by the need to grade the terrain and create brain at the site; with final consideration that it looks as good as it works as a landscape. Finally the result is a simply stunning landscape that has transformed Marvin Place into a retreat, reinforcing the sights and sounds of outdoor living for the clients all while staying true to their vision and the environmental surroundings.
