PATINA: sustainable landscape materials

PATINA - Eco-Friendly Landscape Materials by Gentle Gardener Green Design Situated in the beautiful rural area of Central Virginia, Gentle Gardener Green Design is pleased to announce the 'PATINA' , a landscape focused on sustainability and style. Our team has designed this outdoor space to service the communities between Aroda to Charlottesville using wilderness-friendly materials for both function and attractiveness. 'PATINA' contains an impressive selection of native plants chosen for their durability and low-maintenance characteristics to achieve a healthy landscape that will be colorful and thriving all year long. Our expert design team made use of permeable paving stones sourced from recycled materials for solidified drainage and groundwater restoration. This sustainable material is both beautiful to engage with and fosters environmental stewardship. During the duration of the we had to address uneven topography and soil health. The design team created custom soil amendments and terracing techniques to adapt and improve the feasibility of establishing and sustaining various planting zones. These adaptations ultimately transformed design hurdles into possibilities for varied planting progressions to support the health of the landscape and add visual interest and dimensionality. The signature feature of 'PATINA' is the beautiful meditation garden with a water feature constructed from locally sourced stone accents. It is an inviting and calming place to meditate and reflect and was one of the most impactful upgrades for the client’s outdoor experience. The pathways leading to it, were also constructed using reclaimed wood borders randomly affixed with beautiful original garden sculptures that developed meaningful relationships to the client’s personal vision. Ultimately, the client was thrilled with their newly designed landscape and the pleasing balance of beauty and sustainability found within 'PATINA'. Gentle Gardener Green Design is proud to have partnered with the thoughtful homeowners to re-design their outdoor space while creating a landscape that supports the belief of sustainably improving their property along with the environment.
