Summary: Residential Gardens & Orchards by California Farm and Garden California Farm and Garden presents the ‘Residential Gardens & Orchards’ , which beautifully transformed a residential outdoor space into a highly functional element of their beautiful home. The design met the needs of the clients, from Bonita, multiple locations in Chula Vista, to La Jolla, into one cohesive outdoor private oasis where aesthetics paired with sustainability, meeting their ideal of the perfect landscape. Through the site's unique design of a residential garden, we integrated drought-tolerant plants and fruit trees that were hardy in the region. The pride of California in native plants, native flowering plants, and fruit trees were utilized focusing on water conservation and biodiversity. A careful selection of California lilacs, manzanitas, and citrus trees created a variety of color and fruit possibilities throughout the seasons. They also ensured an abundance of sunlight and limited drought periods would not restrict our decisions or layout of the garden or its plants. After careful thought into the layout, logistics, and materials, our team faced the limited evenness or slope of the landscape, which required careful grading, locally sourced site stone used to create a retaining wall, proper drainage paths with decomposed granite, with further consideration limiting the areas of heavy water usage or heavy applications of mulch to aid in drought. In the end, a very beautiful garden remodel fully pleased the clients and added great enjoyment to their outdoor living. It was a great finish and comfort area using a beautiful gazebo and several seating areas where one could just sit and take it in to connect, relax, and appreciate the experience.
