Detailed Landscape Veggies Planter's & Gardens As the design team for a local landscaping company, we recently finished a landscaping construction called the 'Planters and Vegetable Gardens' in the beautiful local communities of Fort Collins, Ft Collins, Laporte, Severance, Timnath, Wellington & Windsor. We created a warm, accessible outdoor space in which beauty and function are intertwined; our clients now have a beautiful yard where they can grow their own food, but they also have a landscape that adds value to their home. This consisted of a set of custom raised planter beds built out of cedar wood to provide extreme durability and the cedar itself to mitigate pests. The planters each were designed for proper drainage, good soil health and to support a variety of vegetables and herbs and flowering plants. It was a rotation that made sense, allowing the crops to stand and grow through the seasons. A major challenge we faced was the difference in soils throughout the site. After doing extensive soil testing and developing a custom organics soil amendment plan, we were able to nourish the earth back into its ideal growing foundation. Furthermore, we installed a drip irrigation system which guarantees for minimum water usage, reduces time spent watering for our clients and contributes to practicing sustainability! As an added component of interest, we installed decorative gravel pathways that weave through the garden among the native flowering plants that would attract pollinators, as well. Climbing veggies were propped by simple rustic wooden trellises for vertical interest and space to make the most of every square inch, The end product was a colourful vibrant garden that not only fulfilled all of their functional requirements on paper but also turned out to be a beautiful hidden sanctuary that the family could every now and then escape to and enjoy the outdoor activities. They were absolutely over the moon to be able to have their visions come to life with abundant crops and fresh produce right outside the front door, a perfect reflection of Detailed Landscape's craftsmanship and customer-oriented approach to s.
