Winter Plantings and Window Boxes by Petit Jardin En Ville At Petit Jardin En Ville, we just finished an incredible landscaping , “Winter Plantings and Window Boxes,” right in Philadelphia. The ’s aim was to enhance the beauty of a lovely urban home and offer something green during the winter months. Our team carefully picked winter-hardy plants like hellebores, winter pansies, and ornamental kale known for being tough and beautiful. The featured custom window boxes made of sustainably-sourced cedar wood. The cedar added beauty to the home while also offering durability for the elements of winter. One challenge we faced was the low-light condition of where the client wanted the window boxes. We placed the boxes properly to capture light, while taking care to also provide proper water drainage to the plants. Our horticulturalists had taken soil samples and tested the soils to select an appropriate mix to encourage healthy plants in the cold conditions of winter. In the end, a stunning display of greenery and color emerged and truly transformed the home into a winter landscape. The client was very pleased with the display and mentioned that it added appeal to their home and beauty during the colder months.
