The renovation of the 1940's Country Home in Melrose, NM, represents a thoughtful blend of vintage charm and modern functionality. This project, initiated in 2017, focused primarily on the kitchen, which had remained untouched amidst previous remodels. The original structure featured 7.5-foot ceilings and a portion of adobe walls, providing a unique historical context that influenced the design choices throughout the renovation. To enhance usability and aesthetic appeal, we strategically closed off one door, allowing for a more expansive countertop area. This decision was pivotal in transforming the kitchen into a more efficient workspace. The introduction of custom-built cabinets was a key element of the remodel, as these cabinets were tailored to maximize every inch of space, addressing the common challenge of storage in smaller kitchens. With features like corner pullouts, we ensured that no area was neglected, effectively increasing storage capacity by over 50%. The craftsmanship in this project was paramount; every cabinet was meticulously designed and constructed to blend seamlessly with the home’s transitional style. We incorporated can lighting and under-cabinet lighting to illuminate the space, creating an inviting atmosphere that highlights both functionality and design.
