The Vozos Kitchen project in Louisville, KY, exemplifies a remarkable transformation achieved through thoughtful design and careful execution. This remodel started with the client’s ambitious DIY efforts, where they successfully removed the soffits to create a more spacious atmosphere and accommodate taller cabinets, significantly enhancing storage in this compact kitchen. The decision to double stack the cabinetry not only maximizes vertical space but also adds an element of sophistication and functionality. The chosen cabinetry, Kraftmaid Deveron Maple Dove White, offers a timeless appeal, contributing to the kitchen's traditional aesthetic while providing durable and practical storage solutions. To create a stunning visual focal point amidst the predominance of white cabinetry, a bottom corner cabinet was enhanced with glass inserts. This thoughtful design choice allows the client to proudly display her cherished Fiesta Ware and a unique collection of White Castle mugs, adding personality and charm to the kitchen. The interplay between the glass and the cabinetry invites light and creates an inviting ambiance, making the kitchen feel both spacious and warm. Rather than opting for traditional granite, the project features a Formica laminate countertop in Basalt Slate, which beautifully mimics the appearance of natural stone while offering a more budget-friendly and softer surface. This choice not only aligns with the client’s aesthetic goals but also ensures practicality in a kitchen setting, where functionality is paramount.
