Elegant Family Living is a beautifully modernized representation of a historic 1930s Stratton Hammon home located in Louisville, KY. Undertaken in 2016, this project transformed the house to suit the dynamic lifestyle of a growing family, implementing thoughtful design strategies by renowned designer Lee W. Robinson. The previous owners maintained a formal ambiance, which did not align with the needs of a contemporary family; thus, the current owners took the initiative to expand the living space. Significant changes were made to enhance functionality and comfort, particularly in the kitchen and family room areas. A notable feature of the redesign is the raised breakfast nook that seamlessly intrudes into the family room, providing an open and inviting space for family gatherings. The expansion of the kitchen allows for modern appliances and ample counter space, making it a hub for culinary creativity and family connection. Design elements were carefully selected to create a cohesive and vibrant aesthetic throughout the home. The integration of contemporary art pieces and striking black trim adds a dramatic flair, emphasizing the textures and materials used. The incorporation of Mary McDonald fabrics and rugs not only enhances the visual appeal but also contributes to a warm and inviting atmosphere that reflects the family's personality.
