Modern Dining in the Backyard - Heights, Houston Moss Landscaping is excited to share our recent "Modern Patio Dining", the transformation of a beautiful outdoor space in the Heights - Houston neighborhood. This is the ultimate combination of modern design and usability of an outdoor living space. The client wished for a dining area in their garden, that they could enjoy throughout the year and provide a chic space to entertain. First, we evaluated the previous landscape and identified locations to improve the space, using the beauty of nature. The design all started with a large patio space that was tastefully executed with quality, slip-resistant, porcelain tiles. Using large format tiles permitted us to tie the patio in with the pathways they had previously installed. This flowed nicely to the remainder of the outdoor areas. To finish the dining experience, our design team included a custom timber pergola, with clean, modern line work. This structure provided shade for the hot Texas summers while permitting stargazing dinners once evening approached. We approached the timber constructions from high quality, treated timber to withstand the elements and to give proper life to the structure. The LED lighting integrated into the structure created the perfect ambiance for the evening setting. One of the design challenges we encountered was the slope of the yard. The placement of the patio required proper grading to make the totall patio surface level. Our team executed proper drainage to resolve water issues before saving the patio. Overall, it was able to tackle the sloping challenges with ease. The patios and living spaces were all the surrounded with native plants that appeal to local wildlife, while adding a sense of lushness. Our nursery sourced drought tolerant plants, so maintainance will be significantly reduced, as well as helping conserve in this outdoor environment. Our design included some strategic boulders and softscape vegetation to add additional interest and a more natural feel. In the end, we produced a gorgeous outdoor oasis for the family to enjoy. They can inspire family gatherings and friends that can enjoy the elegant yet homey surrounding, surrounded by the glorious garden.
