Sherman Bridge Road Developed by Lynch Landscape and Tree Service, Inc., the Sherman Bridge Road landscaping represents our devotion to improving and creating beautiful outdoor spaces. Located in the middle of Newton, Massachusetts, this was a total redesign of a residential landscape to improve the aesthetics and ecological sustainability of the site. It was important for us to select native plants where possible, to provide a low-maintenance landscape while ensuring the plants would thrive in the local climate, and to include as many quality perennials and annuals in the design as possible. Combining perennials, annuals, and woven shrubs as a layer of planting, we created a landscape with varying depth in beauty as the seasons changed. The pathway system is made out of quality material with a historic granitic/flagstone style, to enhance both outdoors, and to assist in and beautify purpose in a portion of the landscape design. The non-constant, natural material provides a rustic character with ties to natural surroundings. One of the notable challenges we faced was achieving the plan at a location with steep and uneven terrain, as well as drainage issues due to the existing topography. Our design/build management team worked together to use a grading plan that eased grades on the property with enough significant, land-controlling slopes to improve water flow. Our team also used gravel or natural stone retaining walls to grade the landscape, while providing additional seating space for the family. The end product is a beautiful landscape that blends well with the surroundings, and serves as a peaceful retreat for the homeowners. The high degree of aggregate quality and sustainability of the , in terms of the beauty of constructing a blend of multiple designs and natural material, was inspiring for the clients and an improvement to the security of the local ecological environment.
