Situated in one of Southampton's most desirable areas, this exemplifies our commitment to quality, creativity, and environmental sustainability. The design is anchored on native plantings that are intentionally placed and scaled to enhance the natural contours of the property, creating an inviting landscape. Ornamental grasses, flowering perennials and evergreen shrubs were used to create beauty at all times of the year while also introducing some biodiversity into the landscape palate. The use of local stone for walkways and retaining walls is complementary with the coastal aesthetic of the area, while also mitigating the impacts of the changing climate on the landscape. One of the challenges of the was working with the topography of varying elevations across the site. Our team elegantly solved this challenge with the implementation of tiered garden beds. Not only does this create visual interest at varying levels, it also aids with drainage and soil mitigation on the property overall. In this way, runoff is appropriately channeled away, creating sustainable vitality as it relates to plant viability and lessening erosion. In addition to enhanced plant aesthetics, we designed the landscape for outdoor living with a large patio area to complement the landscape. Built with high quality bluestone, the patio area creates a perfect setting for entertaining and lounging. Custom designed cedar pergolas lend shade and enhance aesthetic appeal to the patio, as well as provide a visual transition between the house and the landscape. We also installed low voltage lighting throughout the landscape to create warmth and light for the clients when they are enjoying their garden after the sun sets. The outcome is a beautiful landscape that the clients can use, while letting the natural beauty of the Shinnecock Hills shine.
