Transformed a churchyard in The Greater Houston area (Conroe, Humble, and The Woodlands.) into a peaceful and inviting environment, harmonizing looking Orthodox values, and aesthetics into the refuge area of the church. In this we combined native plants and ornamentals all selected for the climate and provide interest through all seasons Aiming to be environmentally conscious, we added draught-resistant species, thus further promoting sustainability and the reduction of water consumption. Vibrant flowering shrubs, lush green groundcovers, and majestic trees that provide shade and reverence to the spiritual nature of the church. A major challenge we had to work with was the uneven ground around the property. Our team of experienced landscape architects, through a series of thoughtful decisions, engineered a terraced garden that not only architecturally resolved the topographical issue but also created layers of interest that lead your eye and invite you to contemplate the space. We enabled robust and pleasing construction of the retaining walls in high quality natural stone along with complementing the traditional architecture of the church. The result was a quiet meditative spot, comprised of a stone walkway and an artisanal, in-house crafted wooden bench, where congregants and visitors can stop to reflect. Subtle, ambient lighting blended within the landscape was incorporated to accent important features and create a comfortable environment for evening pride services and community events. And the outcome greatly surpassed our client’s expectations, turning the outdoor area into an attractive extension of the church’s spiritual mission. Its rolling garden and intentional design stand as a tranquil oasis, engendering reflection and engagement with the surrounding community.
