William Shatner's Backyard Oasis by California Waterscapes Set in the heart of Los Angeles, California Waterscapes was honored to have our work featured on the "William Shatner's Home Oasis" , which provided one of the largest backyard renovations into a peaceful oasis. The unique landscaping in this one of a kind home combines beautiful lush greenery and ideal water features, showcasing the celebrity's personality and love of nature. We started with a complete evaluation of the landscape to determine its slope, orientation and native plant material so that we could create a landscape tailored to each site that would look out to more spectacular views but would also ensure that drainage and soil health were in pristine condition. We used a diversity of drought tolerant plants including native Californian species which adds a nice aesthetic and a more sustainable garden. The oasis is highlighted by a custom-designed koi pond with natural stone elements and a waterfall that provides delightful sound. Smooth river rocks border the pond, this went along with the surrounding landscape. The challenge to our craftsmen was how we can incorporate this function into a sloped area while still making it look natural and stable. The also involved building a gorgeous flagstone patio from local stone to create an attractive space for outdoor entertaining. The lighting was done very elegantly to showcase the architecture of the landscape at night which complimented the oasis effect. California Waterscapes navigated the difficulties of a relatively localized job site, a residential area, while still conforming to local landscaping codes, with focused planning and execution. What they ended up with is a spectacular retreat that adds value to the property and provides Mr. Shatner and his family with their own escape. The completion of "William Shatner's Home Oasis" is a testament to California Waterscapes as a company that emphasizes quality, detail and customer satisfaction achieving our client's vision of a home paradise step-outside of the big city mainland Los Angeles.
