About This Project

Nestled in a picturesque wooded setting in Riverwoods, IL, the Warm Contemporary Great Room project was envisioned as a spacious haven for family gatherings and cherished moments, including the occasional Cubs game. The design scope focused on transforming a grand space characterized by soaring ceilings and elegant marble flooring into a warm and inviting environment. To achieve this, we incorporated a thoughtful selection of rich wood elements, which served to soften the expansive height of the room while adding a touch of natural beauty. Craftsmanship played a pivotal role in this transformation. The use of high-quality materials was paramount; we selected woods with deep hues that not only complemented the marble but also brought a sense of earthiness and comfort to the area. A large area rug was strategically placed to define the seating space and provide warmth underfoot, enhancing the room's overall coziness. The upholstery choices were equally deliberate, featuring plush fabrics in inviting colors that encouraged relaxation and fostered a welcoming atmosphere. The layout of the great room was designed to facilitate both entertainment and leisure, with ample seating options arranged to promote conversation and connection among family members. The incorporation of various textures through textiles and furnishings added depth, making the space feel layered and inviting. The overall outcome of the project was a seamless blend of contemporary style and warmth, perfectly suited for family gatherings and casual celebrations. By harmonizing the architectural elements with thoughtful design choices, the Warm Contemporary Great Room emerged as a stunning example of how a large space can be transformed into a cozy retreat.
