Spring 2018 by The Plant Gallery The ‘Spring 2018’ landscaping represents The Plant Gallery's commitment to quality and creativity in the landscaping field. This took place in the lively community of Metairie and was designed to complement a residential outdoor living area that also considers the surrounding environment. A trained Plant Gallery team experienced in landscape design began the process with a comprehensive site assessment. Key areas of improvement were identified, and a detailed design plan was developed to fulfill the client’s vision for the area. The involved a visually appealing arrangement of native and ornamental plants selected for their durable, hardy nature and seasonal interest. In addition to the extensive plantings, the design featured several well placed pathways of locally sourced flagstone that not only provided a fine aesthetic but also offered durability in the elements. One of the significant obstacles encountered when designing the space was site drainage due to a sloping topography. Plant Gallery professionals handled the phase of this by thinking outside of the box and designing a tiered garden area with levels created from natural stone walls to enhance the design of the site. Although a tiered garden design solves the drainage challenge, this approach provided visual appeal in the form of additional levels and experience in the landscape. Along with the natural beauty generated from the extensive plantings, custom outdoor lighting effectively flooded the area with light allowing for continued enjoyment of the features of this landscape, even after sundown. Overall, the finished as stunning outdoor space with both space and appeal to live and entertain, incorporating a planted water feature to enhance the sounds of the breezes. The satisfaction of the client was a success story, integrating form and function description easily used to describe the outcomes.
