Blending Lifestyle With Nature This grand residential landscape transformation beautifully combines aesthetics and utility, resulting in a tranquil getaway for the homeowners. We started the conducting an analysis of the site looking for the special aspects of this property like the exposure to the sun, the quality of the soil and any vegetation already existent on it. The core design vision was to create a seamless transition from the internal living spaces of the house to the external environment, while ensuring that the entirety of this estate feels elegant and calming throughout every corner. Westlake Estate includes a custom stone patio made of locally sourced flagstone, which is great for entertaining and a beautiful feature of the home. A stunning fire pit set around inviting seating where the client can entertain and enjoy the night sky, was also added to improve the aesthetic and functionality of the space. Furthermore, a leisurely Zen path, paired with lush herbs and annuals, navigates visitors around the aquatic garden where it ends up at a water feature creating a flow and soundscape. The site itself brought one of our unique challenges as its topography changed substantially. The team at City Green OC negotiated these challenges beautifully with tiered planting beds that sloped both with the natural terrain and to add a visual amenity while ensuring surface runoff for both drainage and soil retention. Such an attention to detail along with drought-tolerant plant selection, allows for sustainability while reducing water use, all while remaining true to our environmental ethos. We kept the entire estate aglow even after sunset with warm inviting lighting throughout the landscape. In the end, the outcome is a stunning outdoor retreat that personifies the homeowner's lifestyle goals and principles a comforting area for relaxation, bonfires and family get-togethers.
