The Russell Bath project transformed a previously impractical bathroom into a beautifully designed and accessible space, tailored specifically for homeowners with disabilities. The initial layout presented numerous challenges, including a narrow doorway that hindered access for those using walkers, a constrictive tub that was difficult to navigate, and a toilet location that posed significant accessibility issues. Our team addressed these concerns by implementing thoughtful design solutions that prioritize functionality without compromising on aesthetics. The remodeled bathroom features a wider pocket doorway, which enhances accessibility and allows for easy movement within the space. To achieve this, we strategically reallocated some square footage from an adjacent bedroom closet, effectively tucking the vanity away from the main pathway. This adjustment not only improved the flow of the room but also created a more open and inviting atmosphere. Furthermore, we relocated the toilet to a more accessible position, significantly enhancing the usability of the space. Central to the new design is a spacious, modern shower that incorporates a fold-down teak bench positioned conveniently near a multi-functional handsprayer. This feature provides comfort and ease of use for individuals who may require assistance while bathing. Additionally, the shower boasts a doorless entry, complemented by a swinging panel that can be adjusted to create a wider entrance when necessary, further enhancing accessibility. Throughout the project, we selected high-quality materials that reflect a timeless elegance, ensuring that the new bathroom is not only functional but also visually appealing. The craftsmanship involved in this remodel showcases our commitment to excellence, with meticulous attention to detail evident in every aspect of the design. The outcome is a stunning, traditional bathroom that harmonizes modern accessibility features with classic design elements, providing a safe and stylish sanctuary for its users.
