Contemporary Home In Santa Monica, Naturalistic Meet Naturalistic Contemporary Home |Santa Monica | by Bosler Earth Design Combining the modern design style of the residence with its natural habitat, this landscape transformation creates a sanctuary of peace in a family lifestyle. Its design covers a wide variety of home-grade, drought-tolerant plants that are native to the area but chosen for the benefit of water conservation. Colorful flowering perennials, succulents, and grasses, in carefully curated groupings were used to create lush textures and a diverse palette of colors to excite the eyes throughout the seasons. The custom stone path, made from materials selected locally, gives a contemporary feel that mimics the house and serves as a focal point of the landscape. The pathway gracefully wanders through the yard leading guests to a peaceful sitting area outfitted with beautiful outdoor furnishings, perfect for lounging or socializing. A nice fire pit is modern and makes the outdoors feel nice in the evening when the nights can be cooler. Overall one of the major challenges we had was working with the uneven ground of the land. We always make sure to establish grades in our site work for proper drainage, preventing water pooling on the site which ultimately increases the life of the plants and all the hardscape. This meticulousness is a human touch that demonstrates the high quality and sustainability ethos that we strive for. The overall outcome is a beautiful landscape that also harmonises with the residence, establishing a relationship with nature. The clients were delighted with the end result and are so pleased with how the design has enriched their exterior space to allow them to enjoy a little peace and harmony.
