About This Project

Living Landscapes by The Natural Garden Located in central Virginia, the 'Living Landscapes' completed by The Natural Garden showcases our ethos of sustainability and an aesthetically pleasing outdoor space. Serving clients from Bridgewater to Charlottesville, our design was created around the client's vision of an exciting and usable garden. The highlight of the landscape is the beautiful combination of native plants that look attractive and support wildlife. We chose an assortment of native herbaceous perennials, native shrubs, and ornamental grasses that are suited to the climate of Virginia and provide all year interest. The addition of natural stone paths sourced locally adds beauty and durability to traverse the levels of the garden. A challenge we faced was the slope of the property. To work with the slope of the land, we designed a system of terraced beds that manage water runoff with aesthetically pleasing levels. That assisted us in creating opportunities for planting space and entertaining areas, as well as improving drainage would not affect the client. The addition of a drip irrigation system enhanced sustainability by only using water when it would be needed for the plants to thrive. The whole achieved a balance of beauty and useable space, while creating a comfortable sitting area surrounded by healthy plantings, pathways providing access to the garden, and beds of flowers blooming in disorderly colors and textures. The client was ecstatic with the , delighting in how the new landscape had improved the curb appeal of the property and provided a space for family gatherings and relaxation. The Natural Garden prides itself on providing high quality, effective design solutions that address the unique challenges of each .
